THE
DECIBEL DEN

OUR MULTI-PURPOSE RECORDING STUDIO

OUR MUSICAL

"taste"

We're Hungry for More Musical Flavors
We deal with a diverse palate of genres in our studio; From Reggaeton to R&B, Shoegaze to Jazz, Rap, and everything in between, we’re honored and inspired by the range of talented individuals that make their way to us. Constantly working on multiple musical projects keeps our minds open and ears fresh to new ideas and sounds. Being surrounded by so many different artists not only helps, but also inspires more creative growth and experimentation, which can breathe new life to music.

The Apollo x8p is our mothership. Everything in our control room is centered around the workflow that it provides. The 8 unison preamps on the Apollo are the backbone of the majority of our drum recordings.

Softube Console 1 is another tool we use here in the Decibel Den. It allows for hands on control of some awesome channel strips—Saturation, Compression and EQ on every channel, right at your fingertips!

Music Studio

Some of our favorite songs of all time were recorded long before the days of ProTools, and there’s a unique sonic quality that those records have compared to those of the digital era. We like to chase that quality every chance we can, and we’re constantly running all sorts of sounds through our patchbay. The patchbay is basically a highway that you can direct audio traffic on, and we consider ourselves certified traffic movers ;)

Our booth is a utility station. We’ve tracked so many different things in our booth, but 99% of the time it’s vocals and guitar amps—with good reason. It’s an awesome place to get some very intimate vocals or some ear busting guitars or bass.

LIVE ROOM

A lot happens in the live room and boy is it LIVE. We love setting up stereo room mics and seeing how big we can get a drum recording but we’re just as passionate about recording a tight and dry drum sound too. We also do livestreams and live recordings in the live room as well, and when it comes to loud recordings, mic placement always comes in for the win.

Can you tell we love drums? #MakeDrumsGreatAgain(And Real)

"Ever since I was young, I’ve always been around music one way or another. I’m very aware of the impact music can have on its listeners, which is why I find my craft so special - I’m here to chase the unseeable, the feeling and purity of music."

"My musical obsession lies in its potential for vivid storytelling, sonic worldbuilding, and excitement for the listener. I want to push every artist I work with to discover their soundscape through experimentation, coaching, and rapport built during our sessions together."
Yucky Poor
"I draw inspiration from indie, alternative, noise, and lo-fi music. These genre's influence my recording and mixing techniques that bridge 90s and 00s engineering and modern bedroom pop —self-described as DIY in essence, with a professional polish"
